Osimhen In Action As Wolfsburg Retain Bundesliga Slot
Nigerian youngster Victor Osimhen was handed a cameo appearance for Wolfsburg who defeated 10-man Bundesliga 2 side Eintracht Braunschweig 1-0 in Tuesday’s 2016/17 relegation play-off second leg clash to win 2-0 on aggregate
It was Osimhen’s third substitute appearance for Wolfsburg since joining the first team squad in January.
The Nigerian striker replaced Mario Gomez, who was the match hero for Wolfsburg in the first leg, in the 90th minute of the encounter.
Adelino André Vieira (Vieirinha) grabbed the only goal of Monday’s game in the 49th minute for Wolfsburg who retained their Bundesliga status for the coming season with the victory.
The goal was Vierinha’s first this season. Braunschweig’s Maximilian Sauer was sent off in the 82nd minute for a second bookable offence.
NIgerian striker, Suleiman Abdullahi, came on for Eintracht Braunschweig in the 58th minute, replacing Jan Hochscheidt.
Abdullahi has made 14 Bundesliga 2 appearances this outgoing season, scoring just once.
Osimhen is expected to join up with the Super Eagles squad on Tuesday in Paris, France ahead of the international friendly against Togo on June 1.
