Wenger To Decide Future After FA Cup Final, Dismisses Adams Criticism
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on
Friday refused to comment about his stay at the club as he prepares his
team for their last game of the season against Everton at the Emirates
but did reveal that his future could be decided after the FA Cup final
against Chelsea on May 27 at Wembley.
The Frenchman was once again asked at
his news conference ahead of Sunday's season-ending Premier League clash
at home to Everton what his plans are as regards his contract.
"This season, yes," he said.
"The most important thing is to win the football game. What happens to me after that is less important.
"There are many aspects of a football club which has to be discussed at a board meeting (after the FA Cup final). One of those is what happens with the manager.
"I dont know," he added when asked what the meeting will consist of.
On their chances on reaching a Premier League top four finish, Wenger whose side are fifth and need Liverpool and Manchester City to drop points said:. "Our chances don't matter – all we can do is win our game. We just want everybody to play 100% in the last game as is the tradition in England."
The former Monaco manager was asked his opinion about a Sun newspaper report where his former defender Tony Adams criticised his (Wenger) coaching abilities.
"I do not give too much importance to what (Tony) Adams says."
Arsenal could welcome Laurent Koscielny back for the clash with Everton with Aaron Ramsey also available. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss out but should be fit for the FA Cup final in a fortnight.
Arsenal are currently fifth in the table with 72 points, one point adrift of Liverpool who will clinch a Champions League place with a win over Middlesbrough while third-placed Manchester City on 75 points, will visit the Vicarage Road to face Watford.
