Iheanacho for Tottenham
Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho could well head to Tottenham Hotspur as part of a deal which would see Kyle Walker head in the opposite direction.
The Super Eagles forward is apparently close to agreeing a move to Leicester City, but Spurs’ interest could well derail any transfer to the King Power Stadium. The Sun reports that Spurs, who are reluctant to allow Walker to head to City for a fee of 50-million pounds, could work a transfer for Iheanacho into the equation. This would see the Super Eagles man head to White Hart Lane in a cash-plus-player deal, with Walker then joining Pep Guardiola’s side. Iheanacho is a superb talent, but he is not going to want to swap one bench for another, and unless Tottenham can offer him a regular starting spot he would surely favour a move elsewhere. That said, the sheer number of games Spurs will play next season means rotation will be key, and if Iheanacho alternated between replacing any one of the three players who operate behind Kane, while also getting rests himself, it could work a treat. Iheanacho has been included in City’s pre-season tour, but is considered surplus to requirements after seeing little playing time in the second half of last season.
