Oboabona Joins Saudi Arabian Club Al Ahli Jeddah

Nigerian defender Godfrey Oboabona has signed a one-year deal with Saudi Arabian football club Al Ahli Jeddah
Oboabona’s former Turkish side Rizespor were relegated to the lower division at the end of last season from the Turkish Super Lig.
Al Ahli have won three Saudi league titles and and have never been relegated from the top flight in the Saudi Arabian league. They finished as runners-up in the 2016/2017 season behind Al-Hilal who claimed their fourteenth league title with two matches to go.
A statement by Al Ahli on their Twitter handle on Friday said: “Official: Nigerian defender Godfrey Oboabona signed a 1-year contract with Al-Ahli. #AHLIFC.”
Oboabona, 26, was in Nigeria’s 2013 Super Eagles squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
He played for Sunshine Stars of Akure before he left for Europe.
Oboabona will likely come face to face against another Nigerian making waves in the ‘Jameel’ league in the person of Patrick Eze who had five assists to his credit for Al-Qadisiyah last season.
