Aiteo Cup: Makinwa Boasts ABS’ Total Football Floored Enyimba In Round Of 64
ABS FC head coach Henry Makinwa says his team played tactical, technical
, psychological and physical football to confound and beat Enyimba International 2-1 in their Round 64 tie of the 2017 Aiteo Cup on Wednesday,
Wasiu Alalade scored the winner for the hosts, ABS FC after Eric Frimpong’s 22nd minute goal for Enyimba had cancelled out Adeshina Gata’s spot kick in the third minute.
The Saraki Boys currently rocked in the 18th position in the Nigeria Professional Football League table with 43 points from 34 matches will host league leaders Plateau United in their next league game in Ilorin and Makinwa says his team is psychologically ready for the remaining four games, exuding confidence that his side can climb out of the relegation zone.
“Against Enyimba, we played football tactically, technically, psychologically and physically to over power Enyimba,” Makinwa said after the Aiteo Cup Riund of 64 match.
“Going to Sunday’s NPFL game, if we can beat Enyimba, we can beat Plateau United.”
Makinwa, also added that the win was a sweet revenge against Enyimba following the Aba side’s 3-0 win on Sunday at the UJ Esuene Stadium Calabar in a NPFL matchday-34 game.
ABS FC joins other NPFL teams like Sunshine Stars, FC IfeanyiUbah, Shooting Stars, Nasarawa United, Plateau United and Abia Warriors in the Friday’s Aiteo Cup Round of 32 draw.
