Iwobi And15 Others In Super Eagles Camp Ahead of Ghana, Mali Friendlies
Super Eagles Interim Coach, Finidi George led 16 Super Eagles in their first training session ahead of their friendly matches against Ghana and Mali, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
While Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Francis Uzoho, Chidozie Awaziem, Frank Onyeka and Bright Osayi-Samuel missed the first training and are still expected to hit the camp today (Wednesday), Ademola Lookman led 15 others in the light training on Tuesday.
The 16 players in camp on Tuesday night are; Cyril Dessers, Nathan Tella, Simon Moses, Stanley Nwabali, Fisayo Bashiru, Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi.
Others are; Semi Ajayi, Jamilu Collins, Bruno Onyemaechi, Ojo Olorunleke, Raphael Onyedika, Benjamin Tanimu, Alhassan Yusuf, Sadiq Umar, and Ademola Lookman.
Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen, Gabriel Osho, Tyronne Ebuehi and Taiwo Awoniyi are ruled out of the two friendlies due to injuries.
Nigeria will take on Ghana on Friday in Marrakech, Morocco. The African second best team will also take on Mali at the same Grand Stade de Marrakech on Tuesday, 26th March.
Osimhen, 25, has struggled with fitness in the past weeks and will not make the 22nd and 26 March friendly matches in Marrakech, Morocco.
Awoniyi who just recovered from a long lay-off has also been sidelined.
Tyronne Ebuehi got injured in Empoli’s match against Bologna. He missed out on Nigeria’s team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire. Luton’s Gabriel Osho who just got his first call-up with the three-time African champions would not also make it for the games.
Despite the injury worries, Nigeria’s camp in Marrakech, Morocco is already brimming with 16 players who observed first training session on Tuesday. Most of those already around were part of the team featured at the AFCON.
