NPFL: Pillars Pip Sporting Lagos In Kano

Kano Pillars, former champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League, got back to winning form as they secured a slim win on Match Day 27.

The Sai Masu Gida succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Bayelsa United in Yenogoa last weekend despite scoring first.

They faced Sporting Lagos at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday and it was a difficult duel for both sides.

After a scoreless first stanza, it was Mustapha Umar's lone strike that gave the host a 1-0 victory.

The Lagos-based side fought hard to get something from the game but Pillars defenders stood their ground to hold on to ensure maximum points.
